Anya Schiess

Anya is a healthcare operator and venture capitalist with over two decades of experience in healthcare technology, life sciences, and healthcare services. In 2015, she co-founded Healthy Ventures, an early-stage fund investing in healthcare software.

Prior to healthy.vc, Anya led strategy and business development for Cardinal Health's medical services, distribution, and laboratory businesses. Prior to Cardinal Health, Anya was a venture capitalist at Thomas, McNerney & Partners, where she focused on life sciences.

Before entering the investing arena, Anya held several sales and marketing leadership roles at Medtronic across the globe. Prior experiences similarly centered around healthcare including consulting with McKinsey & Company and working as part of the Piper Jaffray biotechnology equity research team. Prior to it all, she worked on one of the first artificial-intelligence applications in healthcare, at a seed-stage startup developing “smart” braces to help patients recover faster following orthopedic surgery.

Throughout her career, Anya has invested and been a board member/observer in over 30 companies. Select investments include: Virdante Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Momenta), Invitae Corp. (NYSE: NVTA), Celator Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Jazz), and Innopharma Inc. (acquired by Pfizer).

Anya earned a BA cum laude from Princeton University and an MBA with honors from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
